Angela Werstine      angela.werstine@live.com

I am a self-taught contemporary artist, with a love for simplicity. My medium is ink on paper and said to be “new and refreshing”. The reason for this devotion, apart from my background, is that an artist needs an epic subject to create epic art. I have been honored to have done many exhibits for Galleries, Parishes, Festivals and Museums.

Finding inspiration in botanically biomorphic forms and sharply contrasted, diametric architectural structures are the subject of her studies in painting. She has developed her own style to reflect the tranquility of the secret garden, the elusiveness’ of pensive liquids, and the harbouring qualities of shelter and structures.

The current subjects of my acrylic paintings are mainly landscapes of the Gatineau Hills of Quebec, sky- or cloudscapes, and interiors. House interiors have their own mystery, especially if humans aren’t present, only the impact of their needs and their sense of comfort or aesthetics.

As a metis artist, I feel an ancestral connection to the earth. My work speaks of our interaction with it, our symbols, our collections, our gatherings and how we fit into the larger picture. I personify fluidity, texture, depth and spontaneity with an impressionistic and loose approach to my pieces.
